What is a Waiting Period?

Modified on Tue, 1 Sep, 2020 at 10:38 AM

A Waiting Period is a duration you need to wait for before you can avail a specific benefit.  For example, if you bought a policy on 1st of January, 2021, you will only be able to claim for hospitalization costs against coronavirus after 31st of January, 2021, as the policy has a Waiting Period of 30 days. If the ailment falling under the Waiting Period is found to be pre-existing, then the same will not be covered under the policy.
