NCB Certificate: When Can we issue One?

There are four situations where we can issue an NCB certificate:

1.Vehicle sold (Change of Ownership):If the vehicle has been sold to a dealership or another person, we can issue an NCB certificate to transfer the accumulated NCB discount for the new car insurance policy.

2. Switching from Comprehensive to Third-Party (TP) Insurance:If a policy has been canceled or the comprehensive policy has expired within the last 90 days and if the customer is switching to a third-party only policy, we can issue an NCB certificate.

3. Surrender of NCB - Customers can give up their No Claim Bonus (NCB) discount on their insurance premium by paying the NCB discounted amount. Once the payment is processed, they will receive an updated NCB certificate.

4. Policy cancelled/ expired.

5. NCB protection with a claim in the previous term (expired policy): If the NCB was protected with a claim in the previous term, we won’t issue the NCB certificate. In escalation cases, we can consult the UW team for a possible exception.

NCB protection

If the customer has opted for the NCB Protect add-on, they can make one claim in a policy term without reducing the NCB at renewal. If a second claim is raised, the NCB will be reduced to zero, and the protection will be removed.

Please note: In some policies, the number of claims that can be reported in a term may vary based on the criteria during issuance. Please check the policy document to confirm the number of claims that can be reported in a term without impacting the NCB.
